The Unitarian Christian emerging church is a collaborative effort among Christian churches, clergy, lay, and other progressives to return this faith denomination to its original meaning and beliefs. Albeit, we are a non-uua church, our heritage binds us in kindred spirit; we share many of the same values and traditions with our UU sisters and brothers around the globe. We invite you to fellowship with us and be part of our faith.
A church cannot be judged solely by its membership, perspectives or outward logo. One must take into consideration many aspects. It is not the number of church buildings that make a church, but rather the number of individuals who have the church in their heart. The Unitarian Christian emerging church would like to be judged by our "works and deeds" of care, concern and compassion rather than other criteria. this is how we view ourselves.
Unitarian: refers to the Abrahamic theology of belief in one god. Unitarianism as experienced in the ucec is classical non-Trinitarian Christology with a modern perspective toward worship.
Christian: refers to those who believe in the ethics, morals, precepts, and theology of jesus of Nazareth (circa 6BCE - 25CE).
Emerging: refers to the 21st century concept that one is "forever developing, seeking and questioning truth." it is not an indication that the church is newly formed, or organizing. Emerging theology has been with humanity since the dawn of time. as culture changes, so too should religion.
Church: refers to a body of believers in fellowship. it does not necessarily refer to a physical location, or structural edifice.
